In 2016, we worked with Chef Scott Downey to bring his vision of The Butternut Tree to life—a one-of-a-kind restaurant concept in Edmonton. Collaborating with Anh Au Design and Bonafide Media and PR, we developed a distinctive brand identity that captured the essence of his culinary philosophy. Our work included designing a website and orchestrating a thoughtful launch strategy that positioned The Butternut Tree as a standout dining destination.

Our involvement in the project came through a recommendation from the interior designer, emphasizing the harmony between the restaurant’s physical design and its branding. This alignment was essential to crafting an identity that felt authentic and cohesive. The brand’s foundation was inspired by Chef Downey’s childhood memories of the butternut tree in his grandmother’s backyard—a place where he learned that nature provides everything needed to create nourishing, wholesome meals. This story became the heart of the brand, connecting diners to the restaurant’s philosophy of honoring locally sourced, natural ingredients.

This colalboration highlights our ability to seamlessly integrate with PR teams and other creative partners to deliver comprehensive marketing solutions. Beyond the launch, our relationship with The Butternut Tree has flourished. Most recently, we led a website revamp to enable online sales and introduce new revenue streams, ensuring the restaurant continues to adapt and thrive in an ever-evolving market.
